Words With Friends:Introducing Paper Frank
Ok so I was initially just going to post up Paper Frank’s info on his site and BOOM! be done with it, but this artist deserves a interview…even if it is via text and only a few questions here and there. Considering that I know him and consider him a friend I kept it short and sweet.
How long have you been drawing? When did you realize you were actually GOOD at it?
I’ve been drawing since the age of 2. I realized I was good at it about 1st grade. LOL
Where does your inspiration come from?
Seeing other artist do their thing. Especially all of the artists at COI (City of Ink.)
Where did your characters come from?
Damien, (the child) came from a clothing line I had called “Paper Brand Clothing” and the bunny character awoke from my dream.

In the car scene people take the same cars and try to modify them differently hoping to stand out. What would you say makes you stand out from the other artist that are out here?
The fact that I am so young (20) and I put so much into my art.
Would you ever consider collaborating with the car scene, like merchandising? I’d rock your shit on my car in a heart beat!

“Milk” b/k/a Chiara Bautista: My New Obsession
While I was being tatted at City of Ink recently my tattoo artist was handed a book and as he flipped through I asked him to stop because I was drawn to a picture of a female with octopus tentacles. I dont know what it is about the image but it burned itself into my mind and I felt the need to look up the creator, Chiara Bautista, as soon as I got home. Chiara Bautista is an Arizona based artist. Aside from me thinking it is awesome that she is a chick, a lot of her art is inspired by the music that she listens to while creating. Enough writing… Enjoy the Art below. “Nina Pulpo” is my favorite character.

This video kinda touched my soul. Although we were from slightly different eras, I too have shared some of the same cassetual experiences he has. Kids these days know NOTHING of what it was like to be a child of the cassette era. The procedure nowadays is… hear it on a blog, download it, and put it on an iPod. The only access to the outside world we had was through the radio. And if we wanted an album or a track itself we had to either wait till it came on the radio (which forced us to listened to full broadcasts) or go to the nearest HMV, Camelot, Sam Goody, or Blockbuster Music. Yes… Blockbuster MUSIC. They closed all of those down. Ya’ll don’t know nuthin bout them. Damn I too miss those days. TDK 4 Life son!

“As-whaat??!” Yeah Ascots!
I love a man in an ascot. I know…I know… As-what? An ascot is related to a tie but can have different variations. If you ever watch Scooby Doo and wondered what the hell Freddy had around his neck…It was an ascot. Lately I find myself noticing different guys rockin them and I cannot tell a lie. I am a sucker for a guy in a good ascot.
An ascot goes around the neck and is tucked into a shirt preventing from the gentleman’s skin to show through. Though I prefer a solid color ascot on a man there are different kinds and patterns. It takes a man with a certain demeanor to pull it off though. There is a fine line between “is he gay or is he straight” while wearing one so you should probably be very secure sexually before attempting the look.
I understand that is site is more car related than anything else but let’s face it…Men love bitches and bitches love a fine dressed man. Trust me, I know a little about this subject.

You Know What Time It Is!?!? Wait…Do you?
Don’t you hate when your phone dies? Let’s face it, our cell phone is our lifeline for everything. You need to know what time it is; hit the power button so you can see the time. You need to see if you’re available on any particular date; check your agenda. Can’t remember your mother’s birthday; go to her contact. Don’t get me wrong, cell phones are amazing creations, for those that follow me on Twitter, you know I live on mine. But whatever happened to watches!?
Yeah watches kid, those things from back in the day, with the dials that told you what time it was. I was recently at a concert in downtown Atlanta and my phone died. I needed to know what time it was so I asked the gentleman in front of me what time it was. Considering he had a watch I assumed it would be a quick question and response session. Nope! His battery was dead but he still had a watch on. (BTW-if you wear a watch that is dead, you’re really rocking a bangle. Please stop and get a battery.) That is when I realized, it’s time to make a comeback!
